Ibuprofen in Mexico
Symptoms: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, depression, headache, hypotension, seizures, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory depression.
Treatment: removal of the drug, gastric lavage (only for an hour after ingestion), activated carbon, alkaline water, symptomatic and supportive therapy (correction of acid-base status, blood pressure).
Interaction with other drugs
It may reduce the effect of antihypertensive drugs such as ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers and diuretics. Diuretics can also increase the risk of nephrotoxicity.
It may aggravate heart failure, enhance the action of cardiac glycosides. It may increase the effects of anticoagulants, such as warfarin.
Ibuprofen in Mexico
Cholestyramine while appointing ibuprofen ibuprofen can reduce absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
Co-administration with methotrexate, lithium salts, aminoglycosides leads to a decrease in their excretion.
Cyclosporine and tacrolimus increase the risk of nephrotoxicity.
Co-administration of ibuprofen per day of prostaglandin administration does not adversely affect on the effect of mifepristone or the prostaglandin on cervical ripening and does not reduce the clinical efficacy of the drug abortion.
Recommended to avoid the simultaneous use of two or more NSAIDs, including COX-2 inhibitors, because it may increase the risk of side effects. Simultaneous use of ibuprofen and aspirin is not recommended due to the possible increase of side effects, including increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, or ulcers. Ibuprofen may inhibit the effect of low dose aspirin on platelet aggregation.
Patients simultaneously receiving fluoroquinolones may increase the risk of seizures.
Ibuprofen may potentiate the hypoglycaemic effect of sulfonylureas.
Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding during concomitant use of selective serotonin antidepressants group reuptake inhibitors, ginkgo biloba.
Ibuprofen in Mexico
Zidovudine increases the risk of haematological toxicity when applied simultaneously.
Simultaneous use of ibuprofen and voriconazole with fluconazole results in increased time of action of ibuprofen of about 80 to 100%. It is necessary to reduce the dosage of ibuprofen with concomitant administration with voriconazole, or fluconazole.
