Pregnancy and lactation
Contraindications I trimester of pregnancy. In II and III trimesters of pregnancy loperamide can be administered in cases where the expected benefit of therapy to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Since a small amount of loperamide is found in breast milk intake during breastfeeding is not recommended.
From the digestive system: abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, constipation, dry mouth.
CNS: fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness.
Allergic reactions: skin rash.
To use caution in hepatic impairment.
Should not be used in clinical situations where inhibition of intestinal peristalsis is required.
If no effect after 2 days use of loperamide is necessary to confirm the diagnosis and rule out infection genesis of diarrhea.
To use caution in patients with impaired hepatic function.
In case of overdose loperamide is used as an antidote naloxone.
To use caution in patients with impaired hepatic function, hepatic failure.
Application in childhood
Is contraindicated in children younger than 4 years.
